1. What is a Broken Heart?
A broken heart is a heart that is surrender and submitted to God.
Psalm 34:18 - The LORD is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves such as have a contrite spirit.
Psalm 147:3 - He heals the broken-hearted and binds up their wounds.
Psalm 51:17 - The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit, a broken and a contrite heart-These, O God, You will not despise.
2. The Importance of a Broken Heart
Why should your heart be broken? Because there are so many obstacles for God to do His Will in you and through you. God can not take you into your purpose unless you are broken There are so many things in your heart preventing you to get to you purpose and destiny in God. When you surrender your heart to God and say to Him, "God I have been independent from You far to long". In other words, offer your broken and humble heart to God, Say "God I trust You completely with my heart and today I humble myself and I can do nothing of my own. I trust You". When you do that, that is the moment God say "your heart is a sacrifice to Me". Your broken heart before God is an aroma for God. A broken Heart before God is a heart which gives God full control of your live.
3. What is the Purpose of a Broken Heart?
People are so independent and they do not need the Lord. There is so much pride in this world and people are in rebellion against God. And there are so many things in the heart of men with which God is not happy and then God will allow your heart to be broken. The area in your heart which is not broken is the area which God does not have.
4. What is the Difference between a Broken Heart and a Wounded Heart?
We so many times confuse the broken heart with a wounded heart having a wounded heart is a heart full of hurts from the past. We should know the difference between a broken and wounded heart. When you have a wounded heart there are bitterness and unforgiveness and a wounded heart should be broken before God to be healed.
The wounded heart is infected with hurt and with pain. And for pain to grow, it has to be fed. You pain is growing because you have been feeding your pain. The wounded heart is poison, it is bitter. The wounded heart keeps resisting change. Not so with a broken heart.
The broken heart is ready for change. Then you are ready to move into another level with God. Do not resist God, do not fight His will. A wounded heart needs to be healed by the Blood of Jesus and you need to be broken before God.
Hurting people, hurt people. When your heart is still wounded and not broken before God, you are hurting and then you hurt people. When you are wounded you will hurt people and you can then not be in leadership because your will minister from your pain and your wounds and hurt people.
If you are not broken God can not heal you
5. What is your Breaking Point?
There are two ways to a Broken Heart - Either you do it yourself and break your heart before God or God allow a crisis to lead you to a breaking point.
What are you waiting for? What is you breaking point? What crises have to happen before you yield your heart to God? Will you have to learn the hard way or can you surrender your heart to God from you own free will? Are you really wanted to wait for a crisis to break you?
When you come to a breaking point, you are ready to submit to God. That is why God has to allow a crisis and allow you to go into a breaking point. And then you are ready to submit to God.
6. How do I know that I am Broken before God?
When we stop giving excuses and arguments and stop blaming others. When you are broken you say God it is because of me. When you still have a lot of excuses in your live, God needs to allow a crises for your heart to be broken. When you can say, "God no more excuses serving you, to worship you and do your will, God I want to die for myself for you to live in me". Then you know that you heart has been broken .Before you heart is broken there is so much pride in your heart and rebellion, but after your heart has been broken, then you say. "Jesus I can not do it on my own, I need you Lord, help me. Take control of my live. Lord I give you all my heart".
