Road signs or traffic signs are in every land on the earth. In cities they are very dominating. They fulfill the same purpose and many of them are the same in different countries. Some are different because of the different languages.
It started first with a footpath. Somebody left his footprints on the ground and others then started to follow it. So people stated to follow the footprint and a footpath was formed. So the footpath was the first sign of direction. Even today, on scenic walking trails, they use footprints to guide people on the walking trials. Sometimes they just use arrows. I do not know if this is the same in other countries but in South Africa it is like this. Here in Germany is also cycling roads specially for bicycles. They also have walking ways and some times they combine both here in Germany. Today it just becomes more user friendly and it is supposed to be easy to read and understand. Roadsigns is also found in the Bible. Here you can see that it refers to a footprint.

Job 23:10-12
But He knows the way that I take;
When He has tested me, I shall come forth as gold.
My foot has held fast to His steps;
I have kept His way and not turned aside.
I have not departed from the commandment of His lips;
I have treasured the words of His mouth
More than my necessary food.

In our daily lives we can come across many road signs. When we are driving we will find them next to the road or even above the road. They are there to provide us with information or to warn us or to provide guidance. They are law abiding and if we do not obey them we can get fines or prosecution. They are there for the road users, whether you drive in a vechile, on a bicycle, as a pedestrian. Road signs are necessary for regulating traffic. They are there to provide the road user a safe journey on his way to his destination if we obey them. We are used to them and sometimes we will ignore them or not even notice them but they are there for a purpose.

Road signs are there to fulfill a need. They should be visible during daytime, during nighttime and during low visibility. That is why they are reflective. They should convey a clear message for the road user to understand. They should also provide adequate time for the road user to respond. Road signs should be very simple and easy to understand.

Road signs can also guide us in our spiritual life. They can provide us with valuable information on our way to our spiritual destination. To take this spiritual road to our final destination we need to know what the Bible says. When looking at these road signs it informs us what is ahead and we need to act accordingly.

Well, that is also the same in our spiritual life. The problem is that some of us see these signs and do not act accordingly. We sometimes just carry on as if there was no sign to give us instruction or we did not even see the sign. These signs should help us in our Spiritual journey. We need to take notice of them. They cannot be ignored in our Spiritual journey.

I hope that when you see some of these signs again that it will speak to you spiritually and it will help and guide you. You might see some of the signs below that you have not seen before. Some of them do not exist and was created as I was led by the Holy Spirit while writing this article.

Job 21:29 - Have you not asked those who travel the road? And do you not know their signs?
Ezekiel 21:19 - "And son of man, appoint for yourself two ways for the sword of the king of Babylon to go; both of them shall go from the same land. Make a sign; put it at the head of the road to the city.
Jeremiah 31:21 - "Set up signposts, make landmarks, set your heart toward the highway . . .

There are two ways - The wrong way and the right way. The wrong way is the evil way.

Ezekiel 21:19 - "And son of man, appoint for yourself two ways for the sword of the king of Babylon to go; both of them shall go from the same land. Make a sign; put it at the head of the road to the city.

God said that we need to turn around because you are heading the wrong way.

Jeremiah 25:5 - The prophets came on My behalf saying, Turn again now every one from his evil way and wrongdoing; that you may not forfeit the right to dwell in the land that the Lord gave to you and to your fathers from of old and forevermore.
Job 36:23 - Who has assigned Him His way, Or who has said, "You have done wrong"?

The road without Christ leads to death
Proverbs 16:25 - There is a way that seems right to a man, but its end is the way of death.
Matt 7:13-14 - "Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it. Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it.

There is a danger in delaying your decision to become a child of God.

Proverbs 14:16 - A wise man suspects danger and cautiously avoids evil, but the fool bears himself insolently and is [presumptuously] confident.
Isaiah 43:12 - I have declared the future and have saved the nation in times of danger, and I have shown that I am God--when there was no strange and alien god among you; therefore you are My witnesses, says the Lord, that I am God.
Acts 19:27 - Now there is danger not merely that this trade of ours may be discredited, but also that the temple of the great goddess Artemis may come into disrepute and count for nothing, and that her glorious magnificence may be degraded and fall into contempt--she whom all [the province of Asia] and the wide world worship.
Luke 8:23 - But as they were sailing, He fell off to sleep. And a [J.H. Heinrich Schmidt, cited by Joseph Thayer, A Greek-English Lexicon.] whirlwind revolving from below upwards swept down on the lake, and the boat was filling with water, and they were in great danger.
Ephesians 6:13 - Therefore put on God's complete armor, that you may be able to resist and stand your ground on the evil day of danger, having done all the crisis demands, to stand firmly in your place.
Acts 19:40 - For we are in danger of being called to render an account and of being accused of rioting because of [this commotion] today, there being no reason that we can offer to justify this disorder.

God says that you need to yield and place Christ in the driving seat of your life.

James 3:17 - But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, willing to yield, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality and without hypocrisy.
Acts 23:21 - But do not yield to them, for more than forty of them lie in wait for him, men who have bound themselves by an oath that they will neither eat nor drink till they have killed him; and now they are ready, waiting for the promise from you."

The Bible says that Jesus Christ is the door. He is the only way.

John 10:7 - Then Jesus said to them again, "Most assuredly, I say to you, I am the door of the sheep.
John 10:9 - I am the door. If anyone enters by Me, he will be saved, and will go in and out and find pasture.
Revelation 3:8 - "I know your works. See, I have set before you an open door, and no one can shut it; [3:8 NU-Text and M-Text read [which no one can shut.] ] for you have a little strength, have kept My word, and have not denied My name
2 Corinthians 2:12 - Furthermore, when I came to Troas to preach Christ's gospel, and a door was opened to me by the Lord,

Jesus Christ is the only way. God said that there is only one way to heaven.

John 14:6 -Jesus said to him, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.
Hebrew 10:20 - by a new and living way which He consecrated for us, through the veil, that is, His flesh,

When you are a child of God you need to change and you need to stop sinning. Do not do the things of before.

John 5:14 - Afterward, when Jesus found him in the temple, He said to him, See, you are well! Stop sinning or something worse may happen to you
Romans 6:12 - Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body, that you should obey it in its lusts.
Psalm 107:42 - The righteous see it and rejoice, And all iniquity stops its mouth.
Proverbs 20:3 - It is honorable for a man to stop striving, Since any fool can start a quarrel.

God says that you cannot earn or work your way to heaven

Ephesians 2:8-9 - For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast.

Matthew 9:22 - But Jesus turned around, and when He saw her He said, "Be of good cheer, daughter; your faith has made you well." And the woman was made well from that hour.
Mark 5:30 - And Jesus, immediately knowing in Himself that power had gone out of Him, turned around in the crowd and said, "Who touched My clothes?"
John 20:14 - Now when she had said this, she turned around and saw Jesus standing there, and did not know that it was Jesus.

Numbers 14:43 - For the Amalekites and the Canaanites are there before you, and you shall fall by the sword; because you have turned away from the LORD, the LORD will not be with you."
Samuel 7:3 - Then Samuel spoke to all the house of Israel, saying, "If you return to the LORD with all your hearts, then put away the foreign gods and the Ashtoreths[7:3 Canaanite goddesses] from among you, and prepare your hearts for the LORD, and serve Him only; and He will deliver you from the hand of the Philistines."
1 Peter 3:11 - Let him turn away from evil and do good; Let him seek peace and pursue it.

There are no other way. The road is wide that leads in the world but the road to eternity is narrow.

Joshua 19:27 - It turned toward the sunrise to Beth Dagon; and it reached to Zebulun and to the Valley of Jiphthah El, then northward beyond Beth Emek and Neiel, bypassing Cabul which was on the left,

Judges 11:18 - And they went along through the wilderness and bypassed the land of Edom and the land of Moab, came to the east side of the land of Moab, and encamped on the other side of the Arnon. But they did not enter the border of Moab, for the Arnon was the border of Moab.
Joshua 19:12 - Then from Sarid it went eastward toward the sunrise along the border of Chisloth Tabor, and went out toward Daberath, bypassing Japhia.

May be you need to make a decision in your life and you find yourself at a crossroad. The bible says choose Christ.

Isaiah 51:10 - Are You not the One who dried up the sea, The waters of the great deep; That made the depths of the sea a road For the redeemed to cross over?
Obadiah 1:14 - You should not have stood at the crossroads To cut off those among them who escaped; Nor should you have delivered up those among them who remained In the day of distress.

This sign can be interpret two ways. Those who rebels and transgress against God will not enter the Kingdom of God. Those who keep sinning in their live will not inherit the kingdom of God. But it also speaks to those who choose to change their live and accepted Jesus into their lifes, they need to see this is a warning not to return to their old style of living. A red sign should alert you when you try to do something that is wrong in the eyes of the Lord.

Hebrews 3:17-19 - Now with whom was He angry forty years? Was it not with those who sinned, whose corpses fell in the wilderness? And to whom did He swear that they would not enter His rest, but to those who did not obey? So we see that they could not enter in because of unbelief
Mark 10:14-15 - "Let the little children come to Me, and do not forbid them; for of such is the kingdom of God. Assuredly, I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God as a little child will by no means enter it."
Matthew 18:2+3 - Then Jesus called a little child to Him, set him in the midst of them, 3 and said, "Assuredly, I say to you, unless you are converted and become as little children, you will by no means enter the kingdom of heaven.

Matthew 7:13 - "Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it."
Luke 13:24 - "Strive to enter through the narrow gate, for many, I say to you, will seek to enter and will not be able."

Revelation 6:4 - Another horse, fiery red, went out. And it was granted to the one who sat on it to take peace from the earth, and that people should kill one another; and there was given to him a great sword.
Ezekiel 3:17 - "Son of man, I have made you a watchman for the house of Israel; therefore hear a word from My mouth, and give them warning from Me:
Psalm 23:2 - He makes me to lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside the still waters.

Isaiah 30:21 - Your ears shall hear a word behind you, saying, "This is the way, walk in it," Whenever you turn to the right hand or whenever you turn to the left.

Numbers 14:24 - But My servant Caleb, because he has a different spirit in him and has followed Me fully, I will bring into the land where he went, and his descendants shall inherit it.
1 Kings 9:6 - But if you or your sons at all turn from following Me, and do not keep My commandments and My statutes which I have set before you, but go and serve other gods and worship them,
Jeremiah 2:5 - Thus says the LORD: "What injustice have your fathers found in Me, That they have gone far from Me, Have followed idols, And have become idolaters?
Matthew 4:19 - Then He said to them, "Follow Me, and I will make you fishers of men." rm820They immediately left their nets and followed Him.
Matthew 8:22 - But Jesus said to him, "Follow Me, and let the dead bury their own dead
Matthew 9:9 - As Jesus passed on from there, He saw a man named Matthew sitting at the tax office. And He said to him, "Follow Me." So he arose and followed Him.
Matthew 19:21 - Jesus said to him, "If you want to be perfect, go, sell what you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow Me."
Mark 1:17 - Then Jesus said to them, "Follow Me, and I will make you become fishers of men."
Mark 8:34 - When He had called the people to Himself, with His disciples also, He said to them, "Whoever desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me
John 8:12 - Then Jesus spoke to them again, saying, "I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life."
John 10:27 - My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me.
John 12:26 - If anyone serves Me, let him follow Me; and where I am, there My servant will be also. If anyone serves Me, him My Father will honor.
John 21:19 - This He spoke, signifying by what death he would glorify God. And when He had spoken this, He said to him, "Follow Me."
Acts 12:8 = Then the angel said to him, "Gird yourself and tie on your sandals"; and so he did. And he said to him, "Put on your garment and follow me."

All roads lead to a destination. They play an important part in our lives. Sometimes we tend to ignore them. In our spiritual lives it is the same and there are only two spiritual destinations. The one destination leads to eternity in heaven while the other leads eternity in hell. On which road are you traveling? The one that leads to heaven or the one that leads to hell. There are no other destinations, so there are only these two options. You are either on the spiritual road to eternity or the spiritual road to hell.

On whatever road you are traveling you will see road signs next to the road to give you instructions or guidance. Both roads have road signs. On the road to hell you will find many warning signs and you as a road traveler needs to give attention to them. If you do not pay attention to it, it can be devastating at the end.

If you believe that you can carry on with your life now and enjoy it as long as you can because you think you will have a last chance to change your mind then you are traveling on a very dangerous road.

There are many who believe that they will have a second chance. This people also want to delay their final chance as long as possible. The enemy lets you believe that you will have another chance. I believe that people do not have a second chance. Is is realy worth delaying this?

Is it worth to take that chance? In the Bible we find a very interesting story of a rich man who died and landed in the pit of hell, a place of punishment. Wealth does not automatically condemn one to hell nor does poverty in this life guarantee eternal joy. One's destiny depends upon one's relationship to God, which is often reflected in the attitude toward material possessions.

Luke 16:19-31
:19 There was a certain rich man who was clothed in purple and fine linen and fared sumptuously every day.
:20 But there was a certain beggar named Lazarus, full of sores, who was laid at his gate,
:21 desiring to be fed with the crumbs which fell from the rich man’s table. Moreover the dogs came and licked his sores.
:22 So it was that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels to Abraham’s bosom. The rich man also died and was buried.
:23 And being in torments in Hades, he lifted up his eyes and saw Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom.
:24 Then he cried and said, Father Abraham have mercy on me, and send Lazarus that he may dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame.
:25 But Abraham said, Son, remember that in your lifetime you received your good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things; but now he is comforted and you are tormented.
:26 And besides all this, between us and you there is a great gulf fixed, so that those who want to pass from here to you cannot, nor can those from there pass to us.
:27 Then he said, I beg you therefore, father, that you would send him to my father’s house,
:28 for I have five brothers, that he may testify to them, lest they also come to this place of torment.
:29 Abraham said to him, They have Moses and the prophets; let them hear them.
:30 And he said, No, father Abraham; but if one goes to them from the dead, they will repent.
:31 But he said to him, If they do not hear Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded though one rise from the dead.

The rich man sounds a warning to those who are on their way to hell and asked that somebody needs to be send to them and tell them of the pit of hell. This is one true story in the Bible from somebody who was on this road which leads to eternal hell. I also believe that there are many "cross road" signs on this road in other words a road sign with a cross on it to remind the road user what Jesus Christ has done also for them on the cross. But many road users only saw this as an information road sign and not as a warning sign and tend to ignore it. On this road you will find also other warning signs. Many people do not re-act to these warning signs.

Luke 16:23 tell us about hell.

There are two descriptions of hell in the bible. One is of a burning fire and the other of a place of darkness. Jesus said hell was a place of worms, maggots, fire and trouble. The evil ones there are full of remorse and torment. Mark 9:43-48. Jesus also said it is a place and hell would be darkness, weeping and gnashing of teeth.

Matthew 8:12
But the sons of the kingdom will be cast out into outer darkness. There will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

Here is terrible loneliness, separation from God and man. They will suffer the remorse of knowing they had the opportunity to come into or go to heaven instead with God but turned it down. The ones who choose to reject God will one day follow Satan right into this eternal torment.

The destination to hell is a place of fire and torment. There are no exits from it.

While you still see this warning signs next to the road you still have a change to escape from the pit of hell. That is why it is so important in this life to receive and accept the pardon that God extends to all men through the cross of Jesus Christ.

Revelation 20:11-15
:11 Then I saw a great white throne and Him who sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away. And there was found no place for them.
:12 And I saw the dead, small and great, standing before God, and books were opened. And another book was opened, which is the Book of Life. And the dead were judged according to their works, by the things which were written in the books.
:13 The sea gave up the dead who were in it, and Death and Hades delivered up the dead who were in them. And they were judged, each one according to his works.
:14 Then Death and Hades were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.
:15 And anyone not found written in the Book of Life was cast into the lake of fire.

There is still a chance for you to change your direction before you reached your destination. This is why I believe that on this road there are many warning signs for those travelers to change their final destination.

Hell is the final destiny of the wicked. Outside Jerusalem was a place named "Gehenna" which was a place where child sacrifices were offered to Molech and subsequently became a place of burning refuse. Gehenna is a Greek word which also means "a place of punishment".

Hell is being prepared for the devil and his angels and for those who refused their true destiny which God offers them in Jesus Christ. God desires everyone's salvation but not all accept his gracious offer.

Sheol or Hades refers to the place of the dead. It is a place of darkness and judgment but God is present there and able to rescue people from it. Jesus holds the key to Hades and to death itself.

While you still see a dangerous road sign or a wrong way sign or an exit sign or a turn around sign, there is still a chance for you to correct it.

Do not wait till it is too late. Do not wait till you see a dead end sign, a "cul de sac" sign, no turn around sign, and no exit. When you see this it might be too late. Do not listen to the enemy who is telling you that you will have another chance, who is telling you that there is a way out, there is a second chance. He only wants to destroy you. When you see the next cross road sign see it as an opportunity for you to accept Jesus as your personal Savior in your life. Accept Jesus. Accept His extended offer to you.

Salvation is only possible for those who pass from this state to the state of eternal life in Jesus Christ. You need to accept Jesus Christ as your personal Savior.
