When we are willing to learn and seek after knowledge in the Word of God through the Holy Spirit we put an end to all confusion.

1 Corinthians 12:10 - to another the working of miracles, to another prophecy, to another discerning of spirits, to another different kinds of tongues, to another the interpretation of tongues.

For to long these gifts have been confused with the prayer language of tongues. God gave these gives to us and we have to use them or else it will lay dormant inside of us. God wants us to use these gifts to the benefit of the Church. When God finds a willing heart, He uses that person to his or her fullness. When we are willing and obey God, we will be more useful in the Hands of God to the benefit of the Kingdom of God.

The two gifts, different kinds of tongues and interpretation of tongues are working together and compliment each other. When we as the Church come together and the gift of different kind of tongues is at work, the gift of interpretation should also be at work for the building up of the body of Christ. There is a place for our prayer language to be an instrument of blessing for us and builds our own spirit. But in the service we have to build the body and then the gift of different kind of tongues is at work in harmony with interpretation of tongues.

1 Corinthians 14:19 - yet in the church I would rather speak five words with my understanding, that I may teach others also, than ten thousand words in a tongue.

Our prayer language, tongues is totally something else.

Our prayer language when we pray in the Holy Spirit is a language unknown to us. We can call it our heavenly language. This is where the Holy Spirit helps us and prays through us the perfect Will of God.

Romans 8:26 - Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.

Our prayer language when we pray in the Holy Spirit is a mystery. We have an advantage on the enemy as he does not understand our prayer language.

We see that in Acts 10 the Gentiles started to speak in tongues as the Holy Spirit fell upon them.

Acts 10:45-46 - And those of the circumcision who believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because the gift of the Holy Spirit had been poured out on the Gentiles also. For they heard them speak with tongues and magnify God.

When we pray in tongues, our prayer language, we are "building ourselves up". We become more aware of the Holy Spirit and His way of working through us.

Jude 20 - But you, beloved, building yourselves up on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit.

We can allow the Holy Spirit to train us by exercise the gift of different kinds of tongues and interpretation of tongues when we are alone in prayer before God. We can write the interpretation down and judge it by the Word of God and see if it will come to pass. When we are together as the body of Christ and we do not have an interpretation we should be silent.

1 Corinthians 14:27-28 - If anyone speaks in a tongue, let there be two or at the most three, each in turn, and let one interpret. But if there is no interpreter, let him keep silent in church, and let him speak to himself and to God.

But still we should never be in the way of the Holy Spirit when He is at work. We must always allow the Holy Spirit to have His way.

1 Corinthians 14:22 - Therefore tongues are for a sign, not to those who believe but to unbelievers; but prophesying is not for unbelievers but for those who believe.

The purpose of the gift of different tongues and interpretation of tongues is a sign for the unbelievers and it will convict them when they are together in the Church or any other meeting where the Holy Spirit is at work. By allowing the Holy Spirit to have His way we will see the unbelievers come to Christ and get born again.

We have to understand that the gift of interpretation is not a translation of the tongues being spoken. The interpretation is a message by the Holy Spirit who knows all things and He operates the gifts as He wills. All the gifts are Holy and Godly, inspired instructions from the Holy Spirit and it operates in order which God has set. These order set by God is for our protection.

When we got born again we received the Holy Spirit and He came and lives inside of us. So with Him inside of us, all the gifts live within us, we have received all nine gifts of the Spirit within us. We have to stir up the gifts inside us and allow it to operate through us.

2 Timothy 1:6 - Therefore I remind you to stir up the gift of God which is in you through the laying on of my hands.
